Are there any plans for PHP6 encoding. Did you try encoding PHP6 files?

PHP 6 should be supported, but not before it is officially released. It might be wise also to keep in mind that the takeup of PHP 6 may be slow. We predicted that it would take at least a year before PHP 5 started to be adopted, and we advised customers on that basis. But we were wrong, it was much longer, and even now, designing applications around PHP 5 for general distribution would limit the potential customer base and almost certainly restrict sales. PHP 6 is less of a change than 4 to 5, however none the less we would caution anyone writing code for general distribution against adopting it for quite some time.

Well then I have a question what is the upgrade policy for customers who bought version 6.5 of ioncube encoder and would like to upgrade to the future version that will support php6.

For example I bought ioncube for php4 now I want to buy version 6.5 and future version that will support php6.

This would depend on when you purchased and what product you have now. Someone who purchased the PHP 4 only product a few years ago would not currently have PHP 5 support, and so would not automatically get PHP 6, although they may be able entitled to the latest version of the PHP 4 Encoder if their T&C offered perpetual upgrades. They can crossgrade now to the PHP 4&5 Encoder with licensing support (if Pro or Cerberus) for low cost to get them onto the latest product line. When PHP 6 is released this may be available for free (subject to the customer's support/upgrades entitlement being up to date in the case of orders placed since Jan 2006), or there may be a nominal crossgrade cost to obtain support for PHP 6. Whatever the final policy, obtaining support for PHP 6 should not require purchasing a new license at anything close to full price.

OK thanks for your reply.

Final question what would be the best purchase in terms of future PHP6 upgrade. I'm planing to buy current encoder version.

All of the current Encoder versions will have the same terms and conditions when it comes to future upgrades. Pick based on the features you need, which you can review here. The top product is Cerberus, and we have reduced price options if you need fewer features. The mid-range Pro version is the most popular for the budget conscious, giving the ability to encode as well as lock files to specific machines and time expire files if required, while the basic version just handles the encoding. the top product, Cerberus, also has the ability to lock to MAC address. Other than renewing support and upgrades eligibility each year if you want it (which is free in the first year), our license is also a one off payment so it's a pay and forget model, rather than having to buy the product all over again every year.
