I was haveing trouble with the installation of ionCube on my server:

CentOS 3.5 i686
Apache 1.3.33 (Unix)
With the following modules:
mod_gzip/1.3.26.1a
mod_auth_passthrough/1.8
mod_log_bytes/1.2
mod_bwlimited/1.4
PHP/4.3.11
mod_ssl/2.8.22
OpenSSL/0.9.7a

I had installed Zend Optimizer, version 2.5.10, with no troubles, then I proceeded to install ionCube, which gave me a headache of a time.

I finally found out the problem I was haveing Smile

In the installation it said to add
Code:
zend_extension=/usr/local/ioncube/ioncube_loader_lin_4.3.so

after
Code:
[Zend]
zend_optimizer.optimization_level=15
zend_extension_manager.optimizer=/usr/local/zend/lib/Optimizer-2.5.10
zend_extension_manager.optimizer_ts=/usr/local/zend/lib/Optimizer_TS-2.5.10
zend_optimizer.version=2.5.10
zend_extension=/usr/local/zend/lib/ZendExtensionManager.so
zend_extension_ts=/usr/local/zend/lib/ZendExtensionManager_TS.so

But infact it should look something like this
Code:
[Zend]
zend_extension=/usr/local/ioncube/ioncube_loader_lin_4.3.so
zend_optimizer.optimization_level=15
zend_extension_manager.optimizer=/usr/local/zend/lib/Optimizer-2.5.10
zend_extension_manager.optimizer_ts=/usr/local/zend/lib/Optimizer_TS-2.5.10
zend_optimizer.version=2.5.10
zend_extension=/usr/local/zend/lib/ZendExtensionManager.so
zend_extension_ts=/usr/local/zend/lib/ZendExtensionManager_TS.so

With the extension of ioncube at the top, not the bottom Smile

Hope this helps out someone else with the same problem of ioncube not loading properly Smile

Hi

Thanks for the post and confirming the correct procedure, but please note that our documentation is very clear in saying

Quote:
If there are other zend_extension entries in the php.ini file place this new entry before the existing entries.

I think that the word "before" (see http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=before) should be pretty clear to most people.

If there is anywhere in our documentation that says "after" then please let us know and we'll try to clarify further. Perhaps you were reading someone elses documentation, and they had it wrong.

I stand corrected Smile

Well at least this way if someone does come across this problem, and they are a newb, such as myself, and don't know what the reason is.

Thier is no need to be snappy though Smile

Not snappy Smile We certainly don't mind people taking the time to post and clarifying points, so thanks again for that!
