Hi,

I have no access to the original unencoded source of my php files, but I would like to be able to add some php code before the encoded content so that I may password protect the pages with a front login page.

Is this at all possible?

And how would I go about doing this, so far I try and I get an error stating that the file is corrupt.

Many Thanks,
Stinger

Hi

You cannot edit encoded files as this will corrupt them. This protection is to prevent removal or modification of any custom text, e.g. licensing information, that a developer may have added.

You could wrap the file by having another file that includes the encoded one, and adding extra functionality.

Thanks nick,

I am not a programmer, so when you say "wrap" what do you mean?

If the encoded code cant be modified, from what I know, an authentication system wont work, and .htaccess is not acceptible, as there is no way of knowing who is in and out, which is the whole point of a login system.

I have to relay this information onto a programmer, so any tips/details would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Stinger

Encoded files are produced for reasons such as protecting developers from theft of code, and to provide website security. Whilst there are some encoding solutions available where the encoded files can be easily reversed back to source, professional systems such as ours prevent this, and this isn't the way to go.

The best suggestion would be to contact the developer of the encoded scripts to ask about how to integrate their product and make use of it in real world scenarios. Unless you purchase a complete self contained product, well designed software components will be integratable.

Good luck.
