Is ioncube now a leisure project? Mad

So ioncube still waiting for you to release an update... Wish someone would build a competitor to you because you're holding the internet to ransom until you pull your act together...

Don't expect a update any time soon.

i have been doing some digging around and it seems that the address that ionCube Ltd registered to has been vacant for some time now. i send a friend in the UK to that location
and has been there 3 times over the past 2 months and there is a empty building with no signs outside and no stuff inside. neighbors did confirm that ionCube Ltd is located there.

did ionCube Ltd move location? or is this the end off ionCube Ltd?

P.S. Dear Staff, If this is not true than start communicating with your clients and us.
about this and upcoming updates, even if its a tweet saying "Ioncube v11 with PHP 8 Support 82% done expected release next week" something like that.

Appearances are by design. We're still located in the business park (we had the units custom built for us some years back) but like many businesses we switched to being remote early in 2020 due to Covid and a bit ahead of the first forced lockdown. The premises are monitored remotely 24/7 in various ways though so your friend was probably noted Smile

Yes we might be over cautious, but despite the UK having one of the most successful Covid vaccination campaigns, we have also seen some of the highest rates and deaths (*the* highest rate of new cases anywhere in the world most recently IIRC), so while it's preferable to be there, we've not rushed to get back to the office and expose some staff to risks such as public transport filled with children going to school, which is an unvaccinated cohort where cases have been high recently.

Please note you can also always pick up the telephone and give us a call to speak to a human, we don't bite Smile

It would be great if we could now get a similarly detailed answer regarding the development status of the Ioncube Loader for PHP 8.

We're never going to get PHP 8 support, their team of developers are useless.

That's great, but when will that be? We have no timeplan at all. But we need a plan NOW.
Your release can be tomorrow, next month or never. This is no longer tolerable.

Its the same shit like zendguard some years before! And in the result: The product was discontinued. Sad

Latest status is that Loaders for upcoming V11 targeted for an end of August release are delayed slightly due to an issue with 32 bit platforms emerging at the last minute. Although 32 bit is obviously less common than 64, the fix has an impact on the 64 bit Loaders as well so a release ahead of the fix wouldn't be sensible. But barring anything else the Loader release shouldn't be far off, followed by the Encoder. PHP 8 support is currently more than a few weeks out, but thanks to the large amount of development for V11, not just in the Encoder but also changes in the UI to benefit many of the MacOS and Windows GUI users as well as other aspects of the product, the timeframe for the release after V11 should be rather less when compared to that of the upcoming one.

We have a responsibility to readers in terms of the content they may encounter with respect to tone and to some extent relevance, and with that in mind there are published guidelines for community supplied content. It would behove you to take those into account. If content violates the guidelines and doesn't meet the test of being a relevant contribution, e.g. being offensive, spam, excessively time wasting etc., then such content is likely to be removed. It's rare for this to be necessary, but if this happened to any of your posts then it would be from such a violation.

Number one was an honestly important note that ioncube sometimes just skips files, leaving source code open.

Skipping files is an option, and that behaviour would depend on your project or CLI settings. You can easily check the encoding log to see which files have been copied rather than encoded, and if there are any you didn't expect, I would encourage you to create a support ticket as that is the route for official support. Even if you do not currently have an active support plan, the team would still be happy to receive details in case there could be signs of a bug, and unless you are excessively combative in the process, you'd be likely to get some free guidance at that point even without having an active plan (though of course it is always best to have an active support plan).

Number two was a complaint about the stalling of PHP 8.0 support.

There is no stalling, but note that the PHP point zero releases have historically not been stable in terms of internal design, and we have generally provided support from the point one version. PHP 7.0 for example was a premature release of PHP 7, and before that, the first PHP 5.0 releases were also premature. Our PHP 8 roadmap therefore has been for a PHP 8.1 release.

Since General Availability for PHP 8.1 is scheduled for Nov 25 2021, I would not expect the new Encoder before that.

If anything, we've learned it's time to look at SourceGuardian. Sure it may not be as good as ioncube, but at least they've had PHP 8. They've had PHP 8 support since March...
