This is called 'include protection' in ionCube (In GUI, configured under the restrictions tab). Page 37 of the ionCube PDF manual covers the use of it Smile

It's really not a hard choice..

Zend = $599/yr or $999/yr annually renewing license (you stop paying = it stops working)
ionCube: $350 (perpetual license - keeps working!) then $95/yr for updates ...
