Just venting a bit here.

I think it's patently ridiculous to tie the encoder license to a hostname on 'BSD systems. There's no point to it, as it can be readily changed, and its just an annoyance.

hostname OLDNAME
ioncube_encoder53 somefile.php
hostname NEWNAME

Well actually the license is not tied to the host name as such - if the host name changes, however, the Encoder will ask you to generate a new license request. If the actual hardware has not changed then you should get a new license automatically.

We are currently implementing a new licensing system that should make the process smoother on *nix platforms.

It's ridiculous to have to get a new license because you change the host name is the point. It's completely fluid. There are a billion things you can check to verify system hardware without using things that are likely to change.
